  What was your first Computer?

  the last topic got me thinking about this.. my first computer was back in 1981, a sinclair zx81, it has 1k of memory.

  then in 1982 i progressed to a clone of an apple 2 with 16k of memory which i incresed to 48k, a floopy drive for that apple cost me $600 !!!

  .. in approx 1987 i got an ibm xt 640megs with a 20meg hard drive..it was like a dream .

  1st one was just a toy: Commodore 128 with external 5.25 floppy and Commodore printer (which, interestingly, wouldn't work with the computer very well).

  The 2nd one I still remember the specs on.

  386DX-40 (AMD made the 40MHz for Intel at the time)

  4MB of RAM that I upgraded to 8

  Tseng Labs 4000 graphics card with a whopping 1MB of RAM

  130MB Maxtor hard drive

  15" non-interlaced monitor

  8 bit Sound Blaster card

  Shipped with DOS 3.0, but no disks.

  One of the first things I did was fdisk the drive, thereby turning it into a brick since I didn't have an OS to put back on.

  Since I was out of options, I had to talk the local computer shop into selling me a copy of DOS 5 (it wasn't suppossed to be sold without a system, I guess).

  computer question

  xp home edition 10 gigs there are 1.8 gigs free.

  there are two users listed, now i have log on to both and cleaned out the files that are shared, still no improvement.. over the past year it has added vitual memory a couple of times; therefore, i assume (i know the joke) it moves some memory from one section to another and i am running out of memory.. if i removed one would it free up some hard drive?.

  if so, how do i remove one of the users?.

  It'll be the Service packs and Windows updates that have slowly taken up the room. Especially if you also have applications like Office (that gets updates also)

  An XP comp with Office installed and all updates can easily push the limits of a 10GB drive.

  when you come here, are you comfortable to be who you really are?

  can you express how you truly feel?

  i know that not everyone may "understand" who we are, but being out of the organization and its myriads of rules, we should be able to be comfortable.

  certainly, in these end times, we may encounter individuals who do not heed the counsel found at 1st wlg, 3:13. yes, that is correct, as apalling as it sounds...they do the unthinkable.

  they drunk post.. many of us have been tempted, nay, stumbled into the sin of drunk posting.

  but there are those among us who have traveled the dark path, and from them we learn what not to do.

If we get emotional about everyone that says a negative thing about us, we have not grown.

  Excellent post, couldn't have said it any better, and particularly the part I highlighted fits me. I don't know what's wrong with me lately, but I feel like I want to explode. I'm sooo full of hate. Blinding, white-hot, hate. Hate for the world, hate for other people, my co workers, my job. Everything. And it makes no sense And rage sometimes also. It hadn't been that way for a while, so maybe I'm trying to work through something mentally and can't get it done. I feel trapped...always. Never in control, and I despise this feeling. It feels like some bully always has me trapped. And the feeling never goes away. Ugh... So no, most times I try not to be who I am. Because right now, who I am is black and dark and spitefull and I try to supress it so that it doesn't affect others any more than possible. I'm sad to say that I am not entirely successful at that suppression.

  i have bills to pay and gas is expensive and it's hard to make ends meet.. simon is in arrears, to the tune of like 10,000 posts.. if i knew this jwd thing wasn't gonna work, i wouldn't have quit my real job.. your financial aid is most appreciated.. your fellow servant,.
